Setting up TreasuryDirect payroll deductions

Employees must have an existing TreasuryDirect account prior to setting up payroll deductions. Please visit the TreasuryDirect website for further information. Please visit the TreasuryDirect website at www.treasurydirect.gov for further information.

Once a TreasuryDirect account has been set up, it may begin receiving payroll deductions. Please follow the steps outlined below to set up the automatic deductions from each paycheck.

To set up TreasuryDirect payroll deductions

  1. From the navigation menu, click Employee Self Service, then Payroll and Compensation, then Deduction Information, then click TreasuryDirect.

    The TreasuryDirect Securities page appears.

  2. Click the Enroll button.

    The New TreasuryDirect Deduction Info dialog box appears.

  3. In the TreasuryDirect Account Number field, enter your ten character account number.

  4. In the Confirm Account Number field, enter the account number again.

    Note: ESS will not allow you to cut and paste from the Account Number field. You must re-enter the entire account number.

  5. In the Amount to Be Deducted per pay check (Minimum $1.00), enter the amount you would like deducted per paycheck.

  6. Click the Submit Changes button.

    A Confirm dialog box appears containing your new TreasuryDirect payroll deduction information.

  7. Read the new TreasuryDirect payroll deduction information to ensure that all information was entered correctly.

  8. Please read the Employee Authorization information. In the Employee Authorization inner dialog box, enter the last four digits of your Social Security number.

  9. In the Employee Authorization inner box, click the Certify/Confirm button.

    Important: An email will be sent to you stating that your TreasuryDirect payroll deduction enrollment is pending and that it should be processed by the next business day but may take up to two paychecks to become effective.
