Setting up Savings Bond payroll deductions
This section enables employees to purchase Savings Bonds through ESS. Employees will be able to enroll in payroll deductions to purchase both Series EE and Series I bonds.
To purchase and set up Savings Bonds payroll deductions
- From the navigation menu, click Employee Self Service, then click Payroll and Compensation, then Deduction Information, then click Savings Bond.
The Savings Bond page appears.
- Click the Enroll button on either the Series EE or Series I boxes in the Bond A row. You may purchase a second bond of each Series within the Bond B row only after Bond A has been set up.
The Savings Bond enrollment data fields appear under “Enroll in a New Savings Bond”.
- In the Select Bond Amount field, select one of three bond amounts. In the second field, select the number of installments. The amount to be deducted per pay period will automatically appear in the Amount to be deducted per installment field. Please verify this amount.
- Enter the name of the Owner of the Savings Bond.
- Enter Address in the Address fields.
- Select the indicator of either a Co-Owner or Beneficiary of the Savings Bond.
- In the Co-Owner/Benef Name field, enter the name of the co-owner or beneficiary of the Savings Bond.
- Click the Submit Changes button
A Confirm dialog box appears containing the new Savings Bond information.
- Review the new Savings Bond information to ensure that all information was entered correctly.
- In the Employee Authorization inner dialog box, enter the last four digits of your Social Security number.
- In the Employee Authorization inner box, click the Certify/Confirm button.
Important: An email will be sent to you stating that your Savings Bond enrollment is pending and that it should be processed by the next business day but may take up to two paychecks to become effective.
