Viewing a tax summary (W-2 and 1127)

Employees can view and print duplicate copies of their W-2 and 1127 Wage and Tax statements in Employee Self-Service (ESS). These duplicate forms are available from 1998 on and can be used for filing tax returns. To request copies older than 1998, employees should go to home.nyc.gov/html/opa/html/faqs/tax_related.shtml#3.

To view a tax summary

  1. From the ESS navigation menu, do the following:

    1. Click the Employee Self-Service link.

    2. Click the Payroll and Compensation link.

    3. Click the Tax Summary (W-2 and 1127) link.

  2. Select from below.

    • You have worked at more than one City agency since 1998

        A Search Results page appears listing all of the agencies you have worked for since 1998.

      1. Click the radio button of the agency for which you would like to view a tax summary.

      2. Click the Select button.

        Your tax summaries appear.

        Note: Tax summaries are only available from 1998 on.

      3. Proceed to step 3.

    • You have not worked at more than one City agency since 1998

        Your tax summaries appear.

        Note: Tax summaries go back as far as 1998.

      1. Proceed to step 3.

  3. Click the radio button next to the tax summary for the year you wish to view.

  4. Click the View Details button.

    A Tax Detail page appears.

  5. Click the Print tax forms button.

    A Generate Tax Forms page appears

  6. Enter the last four digits of your Social Security number.

  7. Click the form you want to view or print.

    Note: Statements are in Adobe Acrobat format. Adobe Reader is required to view and print the statements.

    Important: 1127 forms apply only to certain non-resident employees of the City of New York. For more information, go to www.nyc.gov/html/opa.

  8. To print your statement, click the Print icon.

  9. For technical or functional issues, send an email to NYCAPS Central at EmployeeSupport@dcas.nyc.gov. Be sure to include a description of the issue and the error message, if applicable.
