Changes to your health plan
Employees can make changes to their health plan at the following times:
- During the transfer period. Employees may choose a new health plan, add and drop dependents, add or drop a rider, waive benefits, or enroll in benefits if they previously waived benefits. Supporting documentation may be required for certain changes.
- Within 31 days of a qualifying event. Employees may add or drop dependents, waive or enroll in benefits and in some cases, add or drop a rider. Supporting documentation is required and must be received within 31 days of the qualifying event.
Employees can change their health plan online via Employee Self-Service (ESS) or by contacting their agency benefits representative or NYCAPS Central, whichever is applicable.
