Canceling your Commuter Benefits payroll deductions
Follow these steps to cancel your transit plan payroll deductions for the Commuter Benefits Program.
If you have suspended Commuter Benefits plan(s), you may follow these steps to cancel them.
For employees with a Premium TransitChek MetroCard only: To cancel your Commuter Benefits plan and/or payroll deductions between December 1, 2010 and December 31, 2010
Please note that as of December 1, 2010, if you have an existing Premium TransitChek MetroCard, you will see both your current plan and the new Commuter Benefits plan displayed. Please make a note of the effective and expiration dates listed. The new Commuter Benefits plan will be replacing the current one.
The options you have are to cancel your Current Premium TransitChek MetroCard or cancel the new Commuter Card or both.
- If you cancel your Premium TransitChek MetroCard by December 23, 2010, your card will stop working midnight December 31, 2010.
- If you cancel your Premium TransitChek MetroCard after December 23, 2010, there will be no effect. Your card will work until midnight January 31, 2010. This is the last day for all Premium TransitChek MetroCards due to the transition to the Commuter Benefits program.
- You may cancel the new Commuter Benefit plan any time in December
- From the navigation menu, click Employee Self Service, then Payroll and Compensation, then Deduction Information, then click the Commuter Benefits link.
The Commuter Benefits page appears.
- Click on the Cancel Current Tran Benft, Cancel New Comm Benft OR Cancel Both button.
The Confirm dialog box displays.
- Read the Employee Authorization and enter the last four digits of your Social Security Number. Click the Certify/Confirm button.
- Your current and pending changes are displayed for your review.
Important:
An email will be sent to you stating that your Commuter Benefits payroll cancellation is pending and that it should be processed by the next business day. Updates may take up to two paychecks to take effect.
To cancel Commuter Benefits plan and payroll deductions
If you have enrolled into a new Commuter Benefits plan and would like to cancel the plan and deductions, please perform the following:
- From the navigation menu, click Employee Self Service, then Payroll and Compensation, then Deduction Information, then click the Commuter Benefits link.
The Commuter Benefits page appears.
- Click the Cancel Comm Benft button. A Confirm dialog box displays.
Note: Canceling your Commuter Benefits plan will also cancel an existing Park-n-Ride plan.
- The Confirm dialog box appears. Read the Employee Authorization and enter the last four digits of your Social Security Number. Click the Certify/Confirm button.
- Your current and pending changes are displayed for your review.

To cancel Park-n-Ride plan and payroll deductions
To cancel your Park-n-Ride plan and payroll deductions, please perform the following:
- From the navigation menu, click Employee Self Service, then Payroll and Compensation, then Deduction Information, then click the Commuter Benefits link.
- Click the Cancel Park-n-Ride button. A Confirm dialog box displays.
- Read the Employee Authorization and enter the last four digits of your Social Security Number. Click the Certify/Confirm button.
- Your current and pending changes are displayed for your review.
Important: An email will be sent to you stating that your Commuter Benefits payroll cancellation is pending and that it should be processed by the next business day. Updates may take up to two paychecks to take effect.
To cancel future suspensions
You may decide to cancel or remove future suspensions
- From the navigation menu, click Employee Self Service, then Payroll and Compensation, then Deduction Information, then click the Commuter Benefits link.
The Commuter Benefits page displays.
- Click on the Remove Suspension button.
- The Confirm dialog box appears. Read the Employee Authorization and enter the last four digits of your Social Security Number. Click the Certify/Confirm button.
- Your current and pending changes are displayed for your review.
Important: An email will be sent to you stating that your Commuter Benefits payroll cancellation is pending and that it should be processed by the next business day. Updates may take up to two paychecks to take effect.
To cancel your current Commuter Plan deduction suspensions
If you have suspended your Commuter Benefits plan(s), you may follow these steps to cancel them.
- From the navigation menu, click Employee Self Service, then Payroll and Compensation, then Deduction Information, then click the Commuter Benefits link.
The Commuter Benefits page appears.
- From your Commuter Benefits page listing your suspended commuter benefit information, click on the Change Resumption Date button.
- Enter today’s date in the Resume Date field.
- Click the Submit Changes button. A Confirm Dialog box appears.
- Carefully read the information presented on this page. The New Commuter Benefits Info box will display the deductions to be submitted for processing.
- Read the Commuter Benefits Terms and Conditions and click the checkbox indicating you have done so.
- Read the Employee Authorization information and enter the last four digits of your Social Security number.
- Click the Certify/Confirm button.
- Your pending Commuter Benefits Info dialog box appears with the pending information displayed
Important: An email will be sent to you stating that the resumption of your Commuter Benefits payroll deductions are pending and that it should be processed by the next business day. Updates may take up to two paychecks to take effect.
