Saving a pay stub

Employees can view their pay stubs on Employee Self-Service (ESS) and then save them to their local drives. Pay stubs are accessible on ESS for the last three years, including the current year.

To save a pay statement

  1. From the ESS navigation menu, do the following:

    1. Click the Employee Self-Service link.

    2. Click the Payroll and Compensation link.

    3. Click the Pay Summary link.

  2. Select from below.

    • You have worked at more than one City agency during the past three years

        A Search Results page appears listing all of the agencies you have worked for during the last three years.

      1. Click the radio button next to the agency for which you would like to save a pay stub.

      2. Click the Select button.

        A Payment Summary page appears showing the latest year for which information is available. All pay stubs corresponding to that year appear.

      3. Proceed to step 3.

    • You have not worked at more than one City agency during the past three years

        A Payment Summary page appears showing the current year. All pay stubs corresponding to that year appear.

      1. Proceed to step 3.

  3. Select from below.

    • You want to save pay stubs for past years

      1. From the Select another year drop down menu, choose the appropriate year.

      2. Click the View Another Year button.

        All pay stubs corresponding to that year appear.

      3. Proceed to step 4.

    • You want to save pay stubs for the current year

      1. Proceed to step 4.

  4. Click the radio button next to the pay stub you wish to save.

  5. Click the View Pay Stub button.

    A Pay Stub page appears.

  6. Click the Pay Stub Summary (PDF) button or the Pay Stub Details (PDF) button.

    A PDF version of your summary pay stub or your detailed pay stub appears.

    Note: Statements are in Adobe Acrobat format and Adobe Reader is required to view and save statements.

  7. Click the Save button in Adobe.

  8. Select a location to save your pay stub.

    Note: Make sure you save your pay stub on a personal drive and not on a shared drive or a work-related drive.

  9. Click the Save button.

  10. For technical or functional issues, send an email to NYCAPS Central at EmployeeSupport@dcas.nyc.gov. Be sure to include a description of the issue and the error message, if applicable.
