Changing your ethnic group

Personal information about the employee includes name, home address phone numbers, emergency contacts, email address, gender, date of birth, ethnic group, military status, and original hire date.

To change your ethnic group

  1. From the ESS navigation menu, do the following:

    1. Click the Employee Self-Service link.

    2. Click the Personal Information link.

    3. Click the Personal Information Summary link.

  2. From the Ethnic Group drop-down menu, choose the correct ethnicity.

    New Value Description (as specified in the EEO-4 Instruction Booklet)
    Amer. Indian or Alaskan Native All persons having origins in any of the original peoples of North America, and who maintain cultural identification through tribal affiliation or community recognition.
    Asian or Pacific Islander All persons having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, or the Pacific Islands. This area includes, for example, China, India, Japan, Korea, the Philippine Islands, and Samoa.
    Black, not of Hispanic Origin All persons having origins in any of the Black racial groups of Africa.
    Hispanic All persons of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Central or South American, or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race.
    White, not of Hispanic Origin All persons having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, North Africa, or the Middle East.
